Minister of Information, Dr. Manal Abdel Samad Najd, on Friday visited the Editors’ Syndicate headquarters in Hazmiyeh, where she was received by Syndicate Dean, Joseph Qosseifi , and Council members.
Discussions reportedly focused on related media affairs and concerns in light of the stifling crisis endured by Lebanon and the world.
Minister Abdel Samad hailed the role of the Press Editors Syndicate, deeming it essential because it preserves and guarantees the rights of media
professionals.
The minister highlighted the need to have a media law that keeps pace with global development.
She pointed to underway efforts to develop a media law which keeps pace with the global development.
The Minister defined the general public media as the one that meets all the needs and requirements of the people, and that constitutes a communication link between the state and the people, adding that it it is essential for the law to take note of this matter.
As for media professionals, the Minister underlined that the rights of journalists are protected and their freedom of opinion and expression are guaranteed by the constitution.
