Lebanese Army Commander Gen. Joseph Aoun inspected Army positions around Tfail, near Arsal on the northeastern Lebanese border. The tour aimed to assure the locals that they remain under the protection of the Army.
A source told The Daily Star that despite the border tensions and the arrest of two terror suspects Tuesday the situation in Arsal “remains stable and calm.”
An Army Intelligence unit had earlier apprehended two men after they were suspected of “involvement in terrorist acts,” a security source told The Daily Star.
