finance Miister Ali Hasan Khalil met with a delegation from the International Finance Corporation to discuss public-private partnerships in infrastructure development in Lebanon, according to a Finance Ministry statement issued yesterday.
Renewable energy initiatives are top priorities for infrastructure development projects, the statement said.
During the meeting, Khalil reportedly highlighted the importance of bringing together the private and public sectors for the success of various infrastructure projects.
Lebanon has been plagued by chronic electricity shortages since the Civil War. Successive governments had failed to improve the electricity sector and many households rely on private generators to see them through the cuts.
The IFC is a member of the World Bank. It promotes private sector investment in development projects in developing countries.
