The Ministry of Public Health announced on Sunday, March 29th, that the total of coronavirus (COVID-19) cases in Lebanon has risen to 438. The ministry confirmed this in its daily coronavirus report released on the same date.
The report said: “Until 29/03/2020, the total of laboratory-confirmed COVID-19 cases at Rafik Hariri University Hospital, accredited university hospital laboratories, as well as private laboratories has reached 438 after 26 cases were recorded since yesterday.”
Moreover, the report announced 2 new coronavirus-related deaths, both of which were patients in their 70s.
Hence, as of Sunday, the Health Ministry has recorded a total of 10 coronavirus-related deaths and 30 total recoveries. This puts the total of active cases at 398, 4 of which are considered in critical condition.
Since the outbreak started in Lebanon on February 21st, 6,176 coronavirus tests have been conducted.
Today, 1,074 people are in quarantine in the Lebanese hospitals accredited by the Ministry of Public Health, according to the latest data.
The total number of coronavirus cases in Lebanon has grown from 1 to over 400 in about 5 weeks, and it continues to grow every 24 hours.
With that in mind, mitigation measures currently represent the highest national priority for Lebanon, as it is for numerous countries around the world. And a significant part of the mitigation process is the responsibility of the citizens.
As such, with every daily report, the Health Ministry reaffirms the importance of citizens committing to the government’s general mobilization guidelines and self-isolation.
It insists that all citizens must adhere to the “implementation of all preventive measures, especially the commitment to complete domestic isolation.”
The ministry says self-isolation has become an “individual and societal moral responsibility that is incumbent on every citizen.”
Additionally, it reminds that negligence in the application of these measures “will expose the violator to legal and criminal prosecution.
”Even after 600,000+ people around the world have caught the virus, 30,000+ old and young people died from it, the World Health Organization declared it a pandemic and called it an “enemy against humanity,” there are still people who think it’s “a hoax.
“While the governments of the world are taking new measures, every day, to try and put an end to the pandemic, the ignorance of some people is hindering the progress and contributing to the spread of the coronavirus.
People who are still not taking this seriously, or believe it’s an intergalactic alien conspiracy, should put an end to their carelessness and embrace their responsibility toward themselves and their society, immediately.
Yesterday, March 28th, the total of coronavirus cases was 412 in Lebanon after the Health Ministry confirmed 21 new cases.
