Minister of Public Health, Dr. Hamad Hassan, on Wednesday launched a health alert service on WhatsApp, in both Arabic and English, to keep the public informed about the latest Coronavirus developments.
The Minister also launched an innovative program prepared by LU (Lebanese University) aimed at tracking positive Covid-19 cases or those suspected of having contracted the virus.
The Minister launched both services during a press conference attended by Lebanese University President, Professor Fouad Ayoub, World Health Organization representative in Lebanon, Dr. Iman Al-Shanqeeti, and other concerned officials.
Minister Hassan explained that both initiatives were the fruit of cooperation between the scientific teams of both the Ministry of Public Health and the Lebanese University — within the framework of plans to combat the pandemic.
“The World Health Organization will have a say in this, and we hope that it will move forward in supporting Lebanese University students and encouraging them to contribute to the development of the much-needed equipment help bolster national capacity to fighting the pandemic,” Hassan added.
