Minister of Information, Dr. Manal Abdel Samad Najd, accompanied by Secretary General of the Higher Relief Commission, Major General Mohammad Kheir, on Monday paid an inspection visit to Azarieh and Riad Al-Solh after a group of saboteurs wreaked havoc to the region’s private and public properties.
“We’re here on a tour to inspect the [vandalized] commercial markets in Beirut. In fact, what we see is heartrending,” Abdel Samad said.
“No one has any interest in plunging the country into hatred and rancor,” she added, deploring assaults on public and private properties. “The damage is very severe and financially compensation is possible; however, it is difficult to morally accept what had happened,” she added.
“We stand side-by-side with the affected institutions that are innocent from what’s going on. We will cooperate to help them because in this country of ours, we are all partners, and we stand together for the best interest of our nation,” affirmed Abdel Samad.
In turn, Major General Kheir said that the Lebanese Army had already surveyed the damage and finalized its report, which will be presented to the Prime Minister.
Kheir also said that a similar inspection visit will be paid to Tripoli tomorrow to assess the damage that the city had incurred.
