Information Minister, Manal Abdel Samad Najd, on Wednesday said via twitter, “A personal deterrent is of more importance than a legal deterrent against fake news. It is of paramount importance to verify the accuracy of news, especially in an environment that welcomes fake news.”
It is to note that the Minister’s words came during the launch of the “Curbing Fake News Forum” held Wednesday at the Grand Serail, in the presence of representatives of embassies and UN bodies in Lebanon, UNHC Head of Communications Melissa Fleming, and a panel of politicians and delegates from Twitter and Facebook.
