Caretaker Minister of Information, Manal Abdel Samad, has partaken in the 4th Arab Chinese Cooperation symposium, virtually held in Cairo via conference video under the theme “responsibility of media in enhancing Arab Chinese joint development amid coronavirus COVID-19 pandemic”, organized by the Arab League in coordination with China’s Information Bureau for the State’s Council.
In her intervention, Abdel Samad heaped praise on the ties between the Arab states and China, stressing that such connection “highlights the will to develop relations and constitutes a platform to exchange viewpoints in various fields.”
“This symposium is of a special importance, mainly at this time, in terms of the necessity of enhancing digital cooperation and the responsibility of media amid the pandemic,” she said.
“Media means are a key partner in the bolstering of human development, especially amid the widespread of social media,” she indicated.
Abdel Samad went on to maintain that digital media was among her top priorities.
“The Ministry of Information is adamant about development and restructuring by modernizing the traditional official media and turn it into integrated media,” she explained.
Furthermore, the Minister listed the initiatives and media campaigns it had launched to raise awareness over coronavirus and the preventive measures.
