Caretaker Minister of Information, Manal Abdel Samad, stressed during her meeting with a delegation from the Media Graduates League the necessity of securing job opportunities for university graduates, pointing to the need to assist students in choosing their majors based on the market needs in Lebanon.
Receiving the work plan of the Media Graduates Association, Abdel Samad pointed to the difficulties facing media graduates before and after their graduation, underlining “the need to focus on one issue, which is national, rather than enter into political and sectarian mazes.”
“The Ministry of Information has organized training courses for academics and media graduates, training them in the different departments of the ministry,” she said, noting that every person must work according to their specialization.
“As a Minister of Information, my mission or my cause is the media law and the rights of media professionals, especially those who have retired. I am still fighting for a law to render employees at the Ministry of Information full-timers; a law pending at the Parliament committees,” she said.
She finally emphasized “the need to preserve the ethics of the profession within the code of honor for the media.”
