Caretaker Minister of Information Ziad Makary, said that “the internal authorities failed to elect a president for the republic,” pointing out that the characteristics of the president are unified by all parties, but who will combine all these characteristics?
He stressed in an interview with “Voice of All Lebanon” that “the process of electing the President of the Republic is a national issue, and the strength of this entitlement lies in the agreement of all political and sectarian forces on the candidate.”
“The theory of the strongest in his community failed, and this is what happened during the era of President Michel Aoun. However, the collapse in the country is not borne by President Aoun alone, as the parties all participated, directly or indirectly, in this collapse,” the minister went on.
Regarding the gathering of Christian deputies in Bkerke, he ruled out “the agreement of the Christians to nominate a president for the republic.”
He declared that “with every dialogue that produces a consensual president and brings together the political and the sectarian, the election of the president is a national issue and not only for Christians.”
In response to a question, he said that Suleiman Franjieh is not the candidate of the Shiites, but rather the candidate for the presidency of the republic and the Sunnis support him for several considerations.
Finally, he called on MP Gebran Bassil to put a name for the presidency of the republic.
