Lebanese Ministry of Information
Caretaker Minister of Information, Ziad Makary, and his Advisor, Misbah al-Ali met at Tele Liban building in Beirut, with a delegation of media professionals who had completed a civil defense workshop held in cooperation between the Ministry of Information, the General Directorate of Civil Defense and the International Press Lebanon website.
The delegation thanked Minister Makary for patronizing the relevant media activities, with discussions touching on the issues of media immunity, social security, retirement and insurance.
Fake news and organizing electronic websites were also discussed.
Minister Makary suggested holding workshops related to the proposed media law, as they would serve as a specific referendum in which journalists would give their opinion in order to reach common ideas between the MoI and media professionals.
Minister Makary underlined his support for the media corp, pointing out that the Publications law does not reflect modernity and development taking place in the global media renaissance, stressing “the need to amend it at the earliest opportunity.”
