Makary Addresses A Letter To TV Stations Urging Them To Deal With Displacement Issue From A National Standpoint, Away From Any Racist Nature

Caretaker Minister of Information, Ziad Makary, addressed a letter titled “The Syrian Displacement in Lebanon and its Repercussions” to television stations regarding dealing with the displacement issue “from a purely national standpoint and keenness not to deal with it in a way that might be understood to be of a racist nature.”

Minister Makary’s letter comes in line with the decision of the Council of Ministers dated 11/9/2023, under which it instructed the Ministry of Information to launch awareness campaigns on the threat and danger that displaced Syrian represent for Lebanese and Syrian societies.

Makary asked the management of Lebanese TV channels to explain the details of the Syrian displacement phenomenon based on accurate figures and information from official sources.

Makary concluded his letter by thanking media outlets for their cooperation in the interest of Lebanon and its people.
