Caretaker Information Minister, Ziad Makary received a delegation of ambassadors from Latin America, with whom he followed up on the latest security developments in southern Lebanon.
The delegation included the ambassadors of Argentina, Maria Virginia Ruiz Quintar; Uruguay, Carlos Gitto; Brazil, Anna Patricia Neves Tanaka; and Colombia, Lina Vanessa Varela .
Following the meeting, Makary stated, “This is the second time that a delegation of Latin American ambassadors visits us; we’ve mainly discussed the situation in southern Lebanon, especially since there’s a significant number of Latin American nationals in Lebanon.”
Makary further emphasized that “part of ambassadors’ work is to ensure the well-being of their nationals in Lebanon.”
“This visit enjoys an official character, and we’ve agreed to continue official communication to provide the esteemed ambassadors with reports issued by the Crisis Cell regularly, to be sent to their respective governments, as part of their work,” Makary added.
The Information Minister praised the good relationship with the ambassadors of Latin America, highlighting their “supportive stances towards Lebanon, whether diplomatically or in international forums.”
Makary also affirmed that “the Lebanese government has a great responsibility towards Latin American nationals and towards maintaining good diplomatic relations.”
