Information Minister, Paul Morcos, said Lebanon had documented at least 818 Israeli airstrikes, 641 artillery attacks, 270 demolition operations and 15 phosphorus shelling incidents between April 17 and May 8, based on official data.
Speaking to Al-Jadeed television, Morcos said the attacks targeted civilians, journalists and rescue teams, describing them as serious violations of international humanitarian law and the Geneva Conventions.
The Minister stressed the importance of documenting the violations to support Lebanon’s efforts to consolidate the ceasefire and pursue legal complaints through official channels.
On hate speech, Morcos said the Information Ministry’s powers over traditional and social media remain limited, with judicial authorities alone responsible for prosecutions and sanctions. He highlighted ongoing awareness campaigns, training programmes and proposed media legislation aimed at regulating online platforms and criminalising hate speech while preserving freedom of expression.
