Morcos hands Finnish Ambassador memorandum of protest over targeting of journalists, receives “Observatory of Public Service and Good Governance” delegation, head of Tribes Cultural Forum

Minister of Information, Attorney Dr. Paul Morcos, on Monday received the Ambassador of Finland to Lebanon, Anne Meskanen, with whom he discussed the latest developments in Lebanon and the region, in addition to the bilateral relations between the two countries in the sphere of media.

Minister Morcos handed Ambassador Meskanen a memorandum of protest against the Israeli targeting of journalists, along with a list of the Lebanese journalists who have been killed or injured, requesting her support for Lebanon.

Morcos also discussed with Finland’s Ambassador cooperation between “Radio Lebanon” and the national radio of Finland.

Minister Morcos also received a delegation from the “Observatory of Public Service and Good Governance” at Saint Joseph University of Beirut (USJ), and its partners in the SRM, headed by the Observatory Director, Professor Pascal Monin, along with members Dr. Charbel Maroun, Hamad Elias, and Rodolphe Saadeh.

Professor Monin described the meeting with Minister Marwan as “useful and engaging,” emphasizing the relationship between the academic institution, on one hand, and the Ministry of Information, on the other, while presenting the role of the Observatory in conveying the reality of reforms and the work carried out by the Ministry of Information.

Monin also revealed that “preparations are underway for a cooperation memorandum between the Observatory and the Ministry,” emphasizing that “the Minister is very keen on supporting all initiatives related to administrative reform and good governance in Lebanon.”

In response to a question, Monin said, “We are in the process of preparing the memorandum. The cooperation will cover all issues related to administrative reform and reform in general, as well as the role of the Ministry in this regard and its collaboration with the Observatory of Public Service and Good Governance at the Saint Joseph University.”

Morcos later received head of the Arab Tribes Cultural Forum in Lebanon, Sheikh Talal Al-Daher, who underlined the importance of reinforcing a unified national discourse and rejecting all forms of incitement and offense, reaffirming his “commitment to the choice of the state and its institutions.”

Al-Daher also praised the efforts exerted by the Minister of Information to develop media discourse and strengthen the role of responsible national media.
